As part of the Journey to Self Reliance, sub awards are vital to USAID programs. This highly participatory online training provides the tools and resources prime NGO organizations need to effectively manage the sub-awards provided to the sub-recipients. It also provides the opportunity for sub recipients to understand their compliance responsibilities.
This online training is suitable for both prime recipients (pass-through entities) and sub recipients to gain an understanding of USAID regulatory requirements, processes for selecting local partners, assembling appropriate sub award packages, and managing risks. Subrecipients can use this learning to build their capacity to refine their systems or build capacity to become direct recipients. This sub award workshop can be an integral part of sub recipients plans to qualify as direct recipients of USAID awards as part of USAID’s co-partnering and self-reliance goals.
Our expert facilitators will ensure you return to your non-profit organization able to make decisions at any cycle of the subaward. There is an emphasis on helping to strengthen and build collaborative relationships between pass-through entities and sub-recipients that are based on trust and accountability. Through plenary discussions and group activities, participants have the opportunity to practice conducting partner assessments, identify appropriate subaward mechanisms, and implement effective performance monitoring best practices.
By the end of this workshop, learners will be able to:
- Know the applicable USAID rules, regulations, and other requirements related to subaward management
- Identify & manage risks in subaward management using pre-award assessments and other tools
- Identify the different types of subawards and know when to use each type
- Determine how to select subrecipients, and monitor and evaluate their performance
- Build appropriate subaward packages
- Take appropriate steps to close-out subawards
